A 2026 Prayer
Lord, help me to do Your will and discern Your rule in all areas of my life without my own hindrances. That means Your will in my finances, without any subconscious covetousness , without me minimizing You or mistrusting You with my future, without comparison. Remove any hindrances that stop me from discerning Your will in my life in specific circumstances, from reaching my full potential, and from running the race fully. Lord, in Jesus’ name, help me this year to discern Your will without me causing my own stumbling blocks so I may submit myself to Your perfect will for my life in all areas.
Help me understand, Lord God, the theology of suffering. Help me understand that I am made for more, and that the enemy wants me not to fulfill my mission—the mission You have for me, the call You have for me—which I believe is to share the gospel with other people, to evangelize. I think that is my mission.
I think that when I set my mind on things of this world—materialism and short-sightedness—I miss the bigger picture. I become distracted, cluttered, chaotic, stuck in the rat race. I become stubborn and hurt. I feel small and discouraged, and I feel like You are not acting fast enough. I feel overlooked and forgotten. I feel like I am attributing faults to You, which is a sin. I am comparing, jealous, and covetous, and these are not Your will.
It is not Your will for me to feel covetous. It is not Your will for me to feel impatient. It is not Your will for me to mismanage my money or spend it the way that I do. It is not Your will for me to be distracted by my phone. It is not Your will for me to live in clutter that leads to mental clutter.
So I ask You, Lord, to help me discern Your will in all situations in my life so that I can do better, and so that I am not my own hindrance in this life. Help me run the race, casting aside all weights—even those that are not sin—all hindrances and all weights. Lately, for the past year, I have been very discouraged, but I believe that this year, 2026, this is my biggest prayer.
Lord God, may I not forget it for the rest of this year: that my prayer is for Your absolute, most perfect, ideal will in my life—for me to know it, discern it, follow it, pursue it, and obey it without being my own hindrance. And if that means that I eventually suffer in this life, then may it be so. Because of 1 Peter 4:19, I trust You. I trust my soul to the most perfect God and to the most perfect will for me.
I entrust my soul to You, Lord God. In Jesus’ name, this is my prayer for 2026.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
